I’m starting to like linux more and more for this server stuff. I have been wanting to setup a backup procedure for the MYSQL databases for sometime ever since I was hacked about a year ago I think it was. Anyway I found a nifty script that I have set to run weekly which will backup the database, compress it in a zip file, and then email it to my gmail account. So pretty much now that it is setup I don’t even have to touch it. Then if some script kiddy finds another vulnerability in the version of phpnuke I am using now I can just restore from a backup and at worst case scenario only lose a weeks worth of data.
