I just stumbled across an article on a collector named Todd DeMartino. Basically he had the foresight to keep all of his original Star Wars toys in mint condition. He even kept the original boxes. What he did was beat up and play hard with his friends toys instead. In 1984 he boxed everything up and put it in his attic. He then began collecting a few years later in college and bought the items he didn’t have. His collection was put on display at Celebration 2 taking up 5,000 square feet.
