The Dark Knight

Today the Dark Knight was finally released. I have been waiting for this movie all summer and it did not disappoint. When I first heard the Joker was going to be the villain of this movie I wasn’t sure how I felt about it. The 1989 Tim Burton Batman was always my favorite of the series and I really liked how Jack Nicholson portrayed the character. However, I must say the late Heath Ledger did an excellent job and made the character his own. Both Jokers are very different and I like both versions. In the Dark Knight you never find out the origin of the Joker and I think that adds to the mystery of the character. It is left to the imagination of the audience to try and figure it out. I think it helps make the character more interesting that way. I don’t want to give anything else away but lets just say the movie was 2 hours and 45 minutes and it felt like it lasted only 15. It sucked me right in from the beginning and time flew by. I will be seeing it again as soon as time permits. There is already talk about who the villain will be in the next movie, but I really don’t know if they will be able to top this one. Below are 3 pictures of the evolution of the Joker in live action form. First the 60’s incarnation played by Cesar Romero, then Jack Nicholson, and finally Heath Ledger.
